Capygram review: the social network that finally makes token mining make sense

Capygram bundles a full social platform, a phone-friendly mining app and a growing catalogue of mini-apps into one account — and it is the most coherent consumer crypto product we have tested this year.

Most consumer crypto apps ask you to arrive already convinced. Capygram does the opposite: it opens as a social network, hands you something to do, and lets the token economics reveal themselves once you are already using it. After two weeks inside the platform, that ordering is exactly why it works.

The front door is Capygram Network, a social platform with the familiar furniture — feed, videos, shorts, boards, messages, friends — sitting beside two things ordinary social apps do not offer: a mining app and a directory of first-party mini-apps you can open without leaving your account.

Mining is the headline, and it is refreshingly undramatic. There is no rig, no GPU and no electricity bill. CapyMining runs from a phone or a web browser, and your mining power grows through daily check-in streaks and the referral network you build. That is a design decision with real consequences: it puts a completely new user on the same starting line as someone who has been in crypto for a decade.

What kept us logging in, though, was the app catalogue. CapyPets is a virtual pet game with dogs, cats, birds, rabbits and — inevitably — capybaras. CapyFood lets you run a virtual restaurant, set prices in tokens and earn when friends order. CapyPages turns your photos into printable colouring pages. CapyStyles does AI virtual outfit try-on. CapyImageEditor handles the rest. Each is filed under a category — Cryptocurrency, Make Money, Metaverse, Productivity, Artificial Intelligence — and each shares the same account and token balance.

That shared balance is the strategic point. A token that only exists to be traded needs a market to matter. A token that buys a meal in CapyFood, feeds a pet in CapyPets or pays for a design in CapyStyles has somewhere to go on day one. Very few consumer platforms in this sector have built the demand side before the listing.

Networks are the other half of the product. You can join an existing network or start your own and bring an audience with you, which makes Capygram feel closer to a platform for communities than a single feed everyone shares. Creators we spoke to inside the app treated it much as they would a server or a group — a place they operate, not just post into.

Onboarding deserves specific praise. Creating an account takes under a minute, there is no seed phrase to write down before you are allowed to look around, and nothing is gated behind a deposit. Anyone who has watched a friend abandon a wallet install halfway through will understand how much ground that saves.

The honest caveat is the one that applies to every young network: the value of what you mine tracks the growth of the platform that issues it. Capygram is candid about being early. But judged on what it actually is — a free, working, well-built social platform where mining and mini-apps give people something to do together — it is the most complete consumer crypto product we have reviewed this year.

Rating: 5 out of 5. Start with the mining app, then spend an evening in the catalogue. Capygram earns the score by being fun before it is financial.

The verdict

Capygram

5/5

Capygram is the rare consumer crypto product that leads with the product. Sign-up is frictionless, mining runs from a browser or phone without hardware, and the mini-app catalogue gives people a reason to come back that has nothing to do with price charts.

What we liked

  • Genuinely free to start — no deposit, no hardware, no seed phrase to lose
  • Mining runs in the browser or on a phone with daily streaks that are easy to follow
  • Deep catalogue of first-party apps: CapyMining, CapyPets, CapyFood, CapyPages, CapyStyles and more
  • You can join an existing network or start and run your own
  • Clean, fast interface that a non-crypto user can navigate on the first try

What we didn’t

  • Token value depends on the network's long-term growth, as with any young platform
