Editorial policy

How we source, verify, label and update the journalism we publish.

Sourcing

We prefer named, on-the-record sources. Anonymity is granted only when a source faces a credible professional or legal risk, and we tell readers why it was granted. Claims made by anonymous sources are corroborated by a second source or by documents wherever possible.

Verification

On-chain claims are checked against block explorers and, where relevant, independent analytics providers. Company figures are checked against filings or issuer disclosures. If a number cannot be verified, we say so in the article.

Labelling

News, analysis and opinion are visually and textually distinct. Any commercial content is labelled as such at the top of the page and excluded from our RSS news feed and news sitemap.

AI use

Articles are written and edited by named human journalists. Machine assistance may be used for transcription or data processing; it is never used to generate published copy without human reporting, editing and verification.

Updates

Developing stories carry an update timestamp and a note describing what changed. Substantive changes after publication are always disclosed.

Conflicts of interest

Staff disclose digital-asset holdings to editors annually and before covering a related subject. Reporters may not hold or trade an asset that is the primary subject of their coverage.
